Nightcrawler (2014)

I was pretty excited to see Nightcrawler as it looked to be a pretty heavily LA-based locations movie, plus you can't usually go wrong with Jake Gyllenhaal.  I found a lot of locations via the trailers and promo pics, but also brought my notepad to the screening to hit up as many locations as I could during my latest Halloween Los Angeles trip.   So not all of these will have screenshots, at least not until it is released on home video.

First up, an easy one, the Angelino's parking lot....

Next is Jake's apartment....

As does this shot in Hollywood...

The pawn shop seen early in the film....

I love when they use GPS in the movies, makes it a lot easier to find stuff, especially this apartment they case out....

The coffee shop seen in the background of the news feed...

KTLA-5 stands in for KWLA-6 in the film....

A prominent Bed Bath and Beyond sign makes an appearance in the film, but not in real life at this intersection...

The "f*cking amazeballs" trailer shot appears in this intersection...

Jake tears around this corner....

Same corner, but different angle is this gas station sign...

This house is the scene of the crime, thanks to Chas at itsfilmedthere.com for this find...

One pivotal scene finds Jake coming upon a horrific crime scene in a large mansion.  Although the gate was open and I was very tempted to go on up the drive to see the house, I thought it best not to trespass....

The Chinatown Express...

I don't know how many times they pass by this IHOP, which I visited previously for Workaholics....

The final crash scene takes place on this stretch of street and corner....

This Los Angeles Police Department played itself in the film....

And the final scene took place at this corner and liquor store parking lot...

The spot used in the poster....

UPDATE February 2015:   During my latest trip I was able to hit up a few more locations.  First up is the spot where Bill Paxton gets into an "accident"....

Here is the Shell gas station that is used in one scene....

Next up is a location that shows up in a few shots.....

Here is the spot where they have a break at a food truck....

I was able to make it to the diner used in a key scene in the film....

And here is the shot where Jake "fixes" Bill's van.....

  7. In a knockout performance, Jake Gyllenhaal plays Louis Bloom, the type of guy who would not only sell his own mother but would chop her up into tiny pieces to facilitate the transaction.
