Paranormal Activity - The Marked Ones (2014)

ORIGINAL POST:

This is part of a series of location blogs for the Paranormal Activity series.  I was lucky to catch the first film at the Slamdance Film Festival in January 2008.   I had no idea at the time the phenomenon it would become, but I did know it was a special creepy little film.  I only wish they would have retained the ending I saw as opposed to the CGI version released in theatres.   You can check out the other locations here:
      Paranormal Activity 2
      Paranormal Activity 3
      Paranormal Activity 4

The fifth entry in the franchise, but technically not a sequel according to the studio, turned out better than I expected by changing up the setting and characters.   Most of the film was shot in the Central LA area.  So, let's get to the main location, the apartment....

And the building across the street...

There are a few scenes that take place behind the apartment....

Here is the auto repair place...

Just down the street is a scene that takes place in front of the auto body shop....

I did not go inside the church, but here are a couple exterior shots....

Here is the small house they go to a couple times for help....

The alley behind the house where they have a scary confrontation....

The car crash scene was shot nearly 20 miles away in Altadena....

  3. The opening scene for the high school looks like my old high school in Oxnard. Channel Islands High School. I recognized the murals on the wall in the quad.

    1. I'm not sure, I haven't looked for it in a while, but at the time I was thinking maybe Balboa Park as they had picnic tables on the cement slabs like you see in the movie.

  9. Just found something crazy that may be of interest to you to do with the exact location of the house from The Ghost Dimension. A person i randomly stumbled upon on Twitter put a tweet up saying that the frat party house from Season 1, Episode 3 of HBO’s Euphoria looks eerily identical to the house featured in The Ghost Dimension. Upon viewing the scene mentioned, I can say it looks very, VERY similar, so much it could be the very house. Upon even further research, a lot of the street scenes from Euphoria were filmed in the city of Pomona, CA. Looking on the outskirts of the city where the fancy homes are, I can safely assume it may be in this area, based on the styles of the homes in the area. Hope this helps you!
