Better Off Dead (1985)

A favorite rental way back when, here are some locations from Better Off Dead.   (The first part of this post of the main two houses was originally published in August 2010.)

First up is the house of Lane Meyers (John Cusack)....

The final shots are at Dodger Stadium, here's my one and only visit there for the 2008 Madonna Sticky & Sweet Tour...

UPDATE June 2014:  While visiting some other locations and with the help of itsfilmedthere.com, I decided to visit some other spots seen in the movie.  Check 'em out below:

Almost all of the race scenes were shot at the same corner in Sierra Madre....

Here is another driving scene spot where Lane tries to ditch the paperboy off the roof of his car...

Whew, ok.  Stock footage of a Tujunga school was used for establishing shots, however they used a different school for the scene following the dance...

The bridge is a short, but most memorable scene since it was heavily featured in the trailer and poster.   Here it is....

Here is me with "Beth" (Amanda Wyss)....

... and Lane's mom (Kim Darby)....

  1. What is the location of this house? One of my favorite movies. I love going to see film locations - I did the Goonies tour this past summer in Astoria. Great fun
